Tom and Loreen discover a clue to a centuries-old family legend. Loreen’s distant relative, Colonel Francis “Beeswax” Blood, served in the Revolutionary War and was given something of great importance by General George Washington. Loreen’s kinfolk have searched in vain for the mysterious object for generations. Just as she decides that the legend was merely a whimsical story told to entertain the children, she finds a handwritten note from Grammy Ethel. Loreen becomes convinced that Beewax’s secret is real and that the treasure is hidden nearby. Not knowing what to do next, the odd couple turns to Stoney and his gabboons for help. Unfortunately, Loreen’s cousin Birdie believes the treasure is rightfully hers, and she attempts to beat the gang to the prize.
Stoney and his gabboons team up with Meghan, a former gabboon, to develop a more efficient method of studying the Northern Goshawk. Meghan knows that the population has been struggling throughout the Northeast and needs help. The gang works tirelessly to develop a technique they can use to learn more about the birds. Finally, the crew goes to the Boneyard to create answers that will help protect the species. Along the way, they discover solutions to several local mysteries, and Stoney crosses paths with an old nemesis, and things start to heat up.
This high-flying adventure finds Stoney and his crew lifting off into the stratosphere aboard a hot air balloon to join a group of migrating hawks soaring far above the Wyoming countryside. Back on earth, the gang stumbles upon a pack of marauding coyotes searching for food, find several animals in distress needing some help, and matches wits with a feisty peacock named Sam...all this while dealing with the aftermath a visit from Birdie and Rueben, who have revenge on their minds.
A large injured hawk appears in the oak tree in Stoney’s neighbors’ front yard. The adventure really takes flight when he enlists the help of his gabboons to rescue Scarlett, the hawk. During the following year, they work tirelessly to release her back into the wild. Along the way, they have a confrontation with a strange couple in a cemetery, meet a champion frog named Little Dusty, fend of the attacks of a feisty mink, and have a close encounter with Tiny the snapping turtle.
Each year, with great anticipation, the gaboons look forward to assisting Stoney with his annual saw-whet owl banding station. But this season, they become tangled in a series of mysteries when they realize that something monstrous is lurking in the darkness. The mayhem begins when, behind Stoney's cottage, they discover an ancient relic that has been hidden from view for decades. Not long after making that find, they begin to hear strange noises in the forest, and their research station is demolished. Stoney is determined to identify the culprit.
In their latest adventure, Stoney and Bill enlist the help of a brainy college professor as they search for the keys they need to unlock a hundred and thirty year mystery. They are on a modern day treasure hunt looking for a buried time capsule, but what they thought would be a simple task becomes much more difficult when they explore the past. Things take an unexpected turn when Stoney’s weird neighbors and a skunk get involved along the way.
A mysterious owl has suddenly appeared near the Malone International Airport. Where did it come from? How old is it? Is it alone? Biologist Marvin Stone (Stoney) and his friend Bill Short attempt to capture the elusive bird of prey to get some answers. But it is when the crew at Sneaky Pete’s Diner contacts the authorities to investigate that the real adventure takes flight, leading Stoney and his friend on a journey they could have never have imagined.
